Semester Wrap-up

This semester at CCC my load consisted of three arithmetic classes and two prealgebra classes. It's finally finals week this week, which means summer is just around the corner! whoohoo!

My main challenge these past two semesters has been to maintain, if not hold on to, my focus on work. My personality is such that new and more exciting life events easily distract me from other responsibilities. And what can be more new and exciting than the arrivals of Mrs. C and Mr. Isaac Bayani Cruz, respectively! When faced with the ultra-white of a halogen flood light or the soft glow of a full moon, where's a moth to go?

Compared to last semester, my focus on work this semester has been more on point. It's not yet up to par with pre-family days, but I'm sure time will tend to that.

This summer, I will once again teach a summer class. With more financial responsibilities, I can no longer afford to take the summer's off. I'll probably go for a night class next semester as well. The extra classes will help augment my salary. I suppose it's time to put in hours closer to a full-time job anyway ;)

BTW, the weather has been GREAAAAAT! According to this report, we should have SUNNY SKIES for the next week or so. When I get home tonight, I gonna whip up some fruit smoothies to enjoy while I grade my finals.

On the Likha side of life, I can feel my inner fires stoking as our major gigs get closer. This past month has been one of sink or swim for us. With the Davis PCN and the Asian Arts gig, we went from a pace of leisurely strolling to break neck speeding! At one point during the Asian Arts gig, my fingers started getting numb and my forearms were starting to cramp up. Man, it was like running a race without warming-up or stretching. Atchaka attributed this to the cold auditoreum.

In a few weeks, we'll travelling up to north for a joint gig with Kababayang Pilipino. Playing and jamming with or for other folks exposes you to different environments and playing styles, which can enrich your own playing experience. I can already smell the excitement and feel the butterflies!
